Football and the Pandemic

What does football have to do with the Pandemic?

When we were kids, we used to play football every day in a friend’s side yard. We enjoyed these games immensely . We learned early on that the offense was the place to be if you wanted to score and win the game. What are the components of a great offense?

Even as kids, we knew that we needed a great quarterback with the skills necessary to coordinate the offense. We designed a playbook and all the players knew their roles. In the huddle we coordinated the entire offense with great communication skills; any player could ask for clarification to ensure we executed the play as designed. Our quarterbacks knew that they could call an audible at the line of scrimmage to change the play based on the environment of the defense. The combination of having a playbook, a huddle to coordinate the play with the players, and the players focusing on their role in executing the play , lead to victory.

We ultimately joined teams in an organized league, whether flag or tackle. We were introduced to the concept of a coach. We quickly learned that our coach designed the playbook, the quarterback embraced the coaches call, and the players executed the plays. If all the players acted in unison, our focused charge down the field lead to a touchdown. Continual execution of the various plays in our playbook, and the ability to call audibles , ultimately lead to victory. We learned early on that the best coaches produced the best results.

Let’s learn from our childhood experiences. Let’s design our playbook with the most advanced thinking available. Let’s select the best coach to lead us to victory. Let’s identify our best quarterbacks. Let’s coordinate the plays and ensure all of the players know their roles. Let’s get in the huddle as quickly as possible. Let’s DO IT NOW!

Down, Set, Hike!

Stay Happy and Healthy!

… but as we huddle, please stand 6 feet apart, don’t touch each other, and make sure no one sneezes or coughs. Lol

I agree. We need a good coach and a good playbook, with multiple plays for when we just aren’t scoring. Good job, AJ! I have a feeling I’m going to enjoy this blog!

Yes!! Everyone needs to assume their correct roles and follow in line with the directives of their higher-ups. Once people accept their role in life they are able to execute their own goals and goals for their organization. Great post!
